Philadelphia, PA.
"Made in Italy" conjures images of two prominent themes in Philadelphia, Italian heritage and bicycles. Prior to living in Philadelphia I had already known, through pop culture, of the rich Italian heritage that dominates particular areas of the city; however, it wasn't until living here that I began to notice the swell in bicycle usage. Maybe due to the rise of the hipsters or the price of a gallon of gasoline over the years, a noticeable increase in the number of bicycles both in the streets and locked to lamp posts seems to have increased dramatically. Walking around the city, most of the bicycles I see have a fashionable unique vintage look; mostly because many of the bicycles are older classics, but also because cycling has become an in vogue method of transportation and for some people a status symbol for unique creative expression
